When asked to clarify what he meant by “whatever you want to call it,” Butler made his message crystal clear. “I don’t even know,” he continued. “I’ve never seen an individual get fouled more than he gets fouled. To me, I think that’s astounding. But, you know, it’s crazy to say but he’s used to it. It’s been happening to him his whole career, and he’s found a way through it, around it, under it, whatever you want to call it – that’s tough.”

#Rockets beat the Warriors, 106-96, hold Steph Curry to 3 pts (1-10 FG, 1-8 3ptFG). Houston is 52-27 & will clinch the no. 2 seed if they get 1 more win or the Lakers get 1 more loss. Houston can finish no lower than 3 seed. I’ve got postgame on @SpaceCityHN with Calvin – NEXT! – 10:57 PM

Steph Curry: three points, 1/10 FG, four turnovers. Went from his most torrid four-night stretch of the season to possibly his worst game. Warriors waving white flag. They’ll lose to Rockets and fall back into play-in danger. – 10:52 PM

Amen Thompson is an absolute monster. What he did to Stephen Curry (1-10 FG, 4 turnovers) tonight is just unreal. This guy is going to be a force for years. pic.x.com/FNGOixknG610:52 PM

Charged up end of the half between Warriors and Rockets. Included some Ime Udoka words toward Steph Curry as he left the court. Draymond Green had a technical and a tripping foul right before buzzer. Rockets just kept missing the free throws. – 9:39 PM

More on this storyline

Since making his Warriors debut on Feb. 8, Butler has played 23 games with Curry. Sunday’s loss dropped their record together to 20-3. What has been evident to Curry’s longest teammates was obvious to Butler right away. The same thing can be said when Butler and Curry were opponents. “I’m pretty sure it’s been happening for 16 straight years,” Butler said. “I get to see it, and it really angers me that he’s on my team and he gets hacked like that.” -via NBC Sports Bay Area / April 7, 2025
